We went to Santa Barbara for the day and loved it. Miles enjoyed the birds! We went shopping and enjoyed the beautiful views of the mountains and ocean as well as the amazing old and new buildings with Spanish architecture.

Miles' first distruction

I removed the car seat cover to wash it and didn't think anything of Miles playing with the car seat. (For some reason he hates sitting in it, but thinks it's a toy when not in it.) After a few minutes of his silence I got a closer look to see what he was up to. He pulled apart the foam padding making the already uncomfortable seat a lot more uncomfortable! Thank heaven for super glue.

The Lion

It only took an hour or so of practice to figure out how to walk with the help of his Loin. When he doesn't get destracted by the things he sees along the way (daddy's drum, another toy or the lion's wheels spinning in front of him) Miles gets from one place to another really quickly.

Getting Around

Miles is doing really great at getting around on his own. He is really good at pulling himself up and walking around holding on to things. Here he is in the kitchen.

Bath time with a friend

The Mommies

I'm lucky to have great friends who had babies around the same time as me. Unfortunately, they all live in Utah. Here's Karen, Hillary, Melissa and me with our little angels.

Miles meets Pete

James and Matt were college roommates and adopted brothers. We were so excited to meet Pete and get caught up with Matt and Arien.

Gummi Worms

James loves gummi worms and he (on a rescent long journey in the car) decided to see if Miles would like them too...I think he does!

Pulling himself up

About the same time he started crawling, Miles figured out how to pull himself up. Here he is demonstrating his strength.

Even though he pulls a funny face every time we give him a cheerio, he seems to like them. Here he is honing his picking up skills. He's getting pretty

Aboayge's come to visit!

Stephen, Karen, Tasha and our new friends the Esiapes made the long journey from UT to visit us. Here's Stephen holding Miles.

We had loads of fun with them at Disneyland. Here is Miles' first meeting with the real Mickey Mouse.

Day at the ball park

James' company had a fun summer party at a LA Dodger's game. Miles seemed to enjoy his first pro baseball game and all the attention he got from our friends.

James in D.C.

James spent a short weekend in Washington D.C. with Moses and Johnny. James loved all the beautiful GREEN (something we don't have in Palmdale) trees and amazing architecture.

Swimming in San Diego

We took a short weekend trip to San Diego to visit Frank and Lindsey. We loved the time we spent with Miles in the complex swimming pool.

Miles fell asleep right after we took him out of the water. All that splashing in the pool really wore him out!

Our Super Star

Julia

Julia is so beautiful. I think her eyes remind me of jewels, just like her name. She's got a great apetite so she's super chubby and so fun to cuddle and squeeze! She is so funny. Peek-a-Boo is her favorite thing to do. We usually know she's awake when we hear her taking. She talks all the time and I swear she sings! Any time I sing she tries to join in. She loves her hands. She admires them all the time, it's like she's just impressed with how they look and what they can do. When Miles enters the room she instantly smiles or laughs. Of course she has a special bond with Lincoln and loves to lay next to him. Sometimes we plop Lincoln on top of her (he weighs less!) and they bolth laugh and laugh. We have to be careful though not to leave them lying too close together for very long because they aren't good yet at controling their movements and one of them usually ends up with a smacked face or pulled hair. We call her Jewles or Jewelzie, along with gorgeous, pretty lovely, etc!

Lincoln

Lincoln is a very happy and patient little guy. When he smiles he gets this look in his eyes that just melts my heart. He's very photogenic. He seems to know he needs to pose for pictures, it's adorable. His hair is gorgeous. At 8 months he's still got the bald spot on back but everywere else he's got long tight curly hair. His constant moving in my womb was a sign of things to come. He's incredibly active and really great at entertaining himself. He's very curious and already eyes Miles' toys like he's eager to play with them. He loves to laugh and is super ticklish! His nicknames are Linkie, Links, Binkie and Binks.

Miles

For Miles 2009 has been a year of great discoveries. His language skills are so amazing I can't believe he was only just begining to speak in sentences at the first of the year. Now he speaks like an adult and is very clever! He's a cuddle bug and often says "I want to hold you!" He loves his cousins and is turning into a wonderful big brother. He loves Thomas, Disney, Curious George, Super Why, Dinosaur Train and the list goes on. He's wearing size 4T and size 11 shoe. He's 40" tall, I know because he's tall enough to ride Soarin' at Disney! His new talents include: the best train noise I've ever heard, figuring out how to play kids games online (without the luxury of literacy) and clever sayings like: It's a yummy day! He's got an amazing memory and reminds us of things that happened so long ago we're often impressed. He's a good dancer but he's very shy. Things he's not so good at: brushing his teeth and potty training! We nicknamed him Milo James Thatch when he loved the Disney movie Atlantis.
