Miles' new trick

Miles' new trick has us scraching our heads wondering how did he figure that out? He has started sucking on his bottom lip, sometimes sucking on both lips at once. We think he looks like a cartoon character of an old toothless man. It's adorable.

Weekend getaway to Disneyland

This is Miles' third time at Disneyland, but first time he actually rode on some rides. It was lots of fun. We think "It's a Small World" is his favorite ride.

Father and Son horse play

I love to ride on daddy's shoulders and slobber in his hair without him knowing. I also pull out his gray hairs and clean out the ear wax.

Miles first swimming lesson

Mother and son spending time together in the pool.
We were invited to a Barbecue & Swimming party. Lonni couldn't pass up a chance to get Miles in the water. He loves his bath, so we thought he'd love the pool too. His response was somewhat disappointing. He didn't hate it, but didn't love it either. Needless to say, he was only in the water for 5 minutes.

Stout Grove (The Redwoods cont.)

Stout Grove has just a 1/4 mile trail off the dirt road. The pictures simply can't convey the absolute massiveness of the trees. Hopefully our standing next to them will help. The grove is so peaceful and beautiful. We really felt one with nature when we were there. We were really missing Miles and almost didn't take time to stop, but were so glad we did. The other visitors probably thought it was funny to see us running along the trail between quick stops to take photos, our attempt to keep our stay shrot and sweet.

The road to Stout Grove (The Redwoods cont)

A quick stop at the Crescent City Visitors Center lead us to the most awe inspiring discovery: Stout Grove. The road to get there is forged through the trees and is, fittingly, unpaved and full of amazing sights.

Paul and Babe (The Redwoods cont.)

The lumberjack Paul Bunyan and his noble ox Babe (American folkloric chatacters) are fitting characters among the massive Redwood trees.

California Coast (The Redwoods cont.)

We stopped for pictures of the beautiful coastline just outside of Crescent City, CA.

The Redwoods

Nicki volunteered to take care of Miles for us so we could take a last minute drive to Northern California and see the famous Redwood Trees. We were in awe, not only of the phenomenal redwood trees, but just getting there was breathtaking with all the beautiful Oregon countryside and tree lined and coastal highways.
Here we are at a little tourist trap, the "Drive Through Tree" only we opted not to drive through it. You can see though how big the tree is. We also had a Shrek moment at the intriguing outhouse carved out of a redwood!

Making James laugh

Everyone knows James a just a kid at heart. Unfortunately for him, the kids never forget his tickle spots. They spent ages chasing after him and making us all laugh.
The last picture shows the darling new addition to the family. His name is Bear and he is a very friendly Boxer.

Adorable kids

These kids are so cute! I can't stop looking at these pictures of

them. Notice Hunter's tounge in the 2nd picture, he's lost his 2 bottom teeth and can fit his tounge through. Funny!

Lonni's birthday

Having my birthday in May is

so much fun because nearly every year we get to celebrate it on vacation. This year was no exception. Here we are celebrating at Lance and Nicki's. Nicki made our favorite cake. Orange Bundt...YUMMM!

At the park with the ducks

Oregon is so beautiful! Here James, Miles, Nicki and Hunter pose for pictures at a park close to Nicki's home. Wow where were so many ducks! We loved it...watch your step!

At Lance and Nicki's house

There is nothing quite like visiting family. We had so much fun with Lance, Nicki, Haden, Haylee & Hunter. Here we all are outside their gorgeous home in Eugene, Oregon. (Quite a handsome group!)
The second photo is of Haylee next to Hunter holding Miles. Hunter, age 5, was the youngest grandchild on Lonni's side of the family until Miles came along. OOOH they're so cute!

Miles' first plane ride

We had so much fun on our recent vacation to our family in Eugene, OR. Miles had fun on his first plane ride. We were grossed out by our fellow passengers manners. Here it looks like Miles knows what we were laughing about. Despite James' better judgement, Lonni had to take a closer picture of the guy and his ugly, naked feet. (Lonni asks: Is anyone else grossed out?)

Fishing

James and his friends went Deep Sea fishing! Once he got over the seasickness caused by the rough seas, he had a good time catching loads of yummy fish.

Ok, we went to Kiddie Kandids!

Kiddie Kandids is a store we have here in the US. They're located in Malls throughout the country and you just show up with your family and within a half hour of getting your pictures taken, you've got your prints and you're on your way. We were so excited that Miles smiled so much. This was when he was 4 months old.

Watch out Kiddie Kandids

Miles looked so adorable in this outfit from our dear friend Lisa, we had to get him to pose in it. We had a good laugh trying to get him to sit up on his own.

Family visits in March

In March Lonni's sisters Lori & Lynne brought their kids to visit. We had loads of fun together at Disneyland. We're all kicking ourselves because we did not take a group photo. Here are a few shots of the visit. Lynne is feeding Miles and for the first time he's holding his bottle (with a little hellp, but hey he's catching on!); Miles loved the parade at Disneyland. Here he and dad are enjoying the show. And last, Aunt Lynne couldn't resist this adorable baby Mickey Mouse (who can blame her?) and had to buy it for Miles. Miles thinks Mickey is tasty! Now that he's older, Miles' favorite thing is to chew on Mickey's perfectly posed nose.

Mom and baby

While James is working, Miles and Lonni try to keep busy at home. Miles has fun sitting in his swing, and playing on the floor. Here are some shots Lonni took of the two of them haning out.
