Accra Mall

This is a very cool new shopping mall.

Fun at Labadi Beach

The family went out for a day a the a popular beach in Accra called Labadi.

Views of Accra

Wow! Here are some cool pictures of Accra that James brought back from his recent trip to Ghana.

Miles loves Gari

No, Gari is not a person's name. Rather a staple in the Ghanaian Diet. James was eating some and Miles decided he wanted some too. We laughed and laughed as we watched Miles dig his hands in the bowl and cram pieces into his mouth as fast as he could. In the end there was more Gari on the floor and on Miles than what made it in his mouth.

Eating a Mango Ghana Style

James says that the best way to eat a Mango is to bite the end and then suck the juice and pulp out while you squeeze the mango. Here's Miles trying the proceedure, and doing quite well. Yumm!

Christmas card for Miles

Miles' Aunt Pauline (James' sister who lives with her family in Northern Ireland) sent him a very cute and thoughtful 1st Christmas card. He loved it, and even sucked on it to see how it tastes.

2007 Work Party

We got all dressed up for the work party...and our first date in almost 1 year. Here are some pictures of the party and a few of our friends working with James.

First Babysitter

In December we had a Company Christmas party but Miles wasn't invited. So we hired Briget to baby sit. Miles was elated. The moment she walked in the door he ran to her and couldn't wait to show her his toys. Here is Briget and Miles, you can see how happy he was. He might have stayed happy if I had remembered to show Briget where his diapers were! Oops!!! Sorry Briget!!

Thanksgiving visit from Aboagye's

Stephen, Karen & Tasha came to visit us for Thanksgiving. We had lots of fun. Miles enjoyed playing with Tasha and learned (or at least we tried to teach him) that it is naughty to hit her.

Father and Son

Here's a picture from earlier in December of Daddy and Miles with his cheezie grin. I love this picture.

(Which ones don't I love?)

A Birthday Presant

Here's Miles playing whith the set of Winnie the Pooh books he got from his Aunt and Uncle. He loves pushing the book set around on the floor (which makes me laugh!). Miles is getting really good at sitting quietly while I read him a story. It makes me very happy to spend some time learning together, although running around and laughing together also very fun.

Happy Birthday Miles!

December 31, 2007 was Miles 1st Birthday! We celebrated with a smallish cake topped with a winnie the pooh (Miles' favorite) candle. Rather than devour the cake, Miles enjoyed the candle. He managed to scrape it up with his two little teeth and probaby ate some wax. Yummy. Daddy was in Ghana, but still got to enjoy talking to and seeing Miles via the internet.

Cheezie Grin

This is Miles' cheezie grin. He makes this face all the time, mostly to strangers, which makes them laugh. He wrinkles his nose and shows his 2 teeth. It's just adorable.

My student

I've been knitting bags for a few years now, a hobby I picked up from some talented co-workers at Parsons, Behle & Latimer. So

far, I've taught 2 friends (CarolJean and Corinne), 3 nieces (also friends!, Melanie, Mitzi and Chelsea), I take half credit for teaching my sister-in-law (Marilyn, Melanie really did the teaching) and now Lynne is an graduate of my not so professional bag knitting class! Here she is showing off her adorable purse. I'm really proud of all these ladies, they're so smart.

Miles' Silhouette

Miles and I stopped at the Silhouette Studio on Disneyland's Main Street and had Miles' Silhouette done. It's really cool, an artist looked at his silhoette and cut a replica out of paper. Now we have a nice little treasure.

Disneyland with the Harpers

About 4 days before Christmas, My sister and her family came to visit! We had lots of fun playing games, touring Palmdale and Los Angeles(Mulholland Drive was a doozie) and Miles and I loved every mute we got to spend with them at Disneyland... even in the cold.

Here is the Harpers and us with Mickey, eating beignets at the Jazz Kitchen, admiring the the Lego store and the sweet fish tank at Quicksilver.
