Snow

Ok, a bit out of order here, but it snowed about 5 days ago. Here's Miles outside, LOVING IT! I showed him what a snowball is and he enjoyed throwing them. I went out and found him snowboots. Alas, it hasn't snowed since but we're hopeful we'll get some good snow play in before it's time to move back to Southern CA!

The Zoo!

We went to the zoo on Halloween. It was the best time to go, not many people, great weather and free candy! Highlights were the babies.... baby elephant, giraffe, tigers, orangutan-- train (LOL! we had to drag Miles onto the train! You'd think his love of all things train would dispell any fear of riding one!) and carousel to name a few.

Hair?

What would I look like with hair? Hmmm, what would Julia look like with hair?!! Suzanne had this funny wig for Halloween. I tried it on. Miles did too, he looked so cute, but quicky removed it and would not allow me to put it on again! Bummer! That would have been a great pic! James and I tried it on Julia and thought it was hillrious!

Visit from the James'

James, Me w/Miles, Afton, Alyssa, Spencer and the twins at the Scarecrow Festival
Alyssa showing Isaac how big Julia is now.

Miles and Afton had the best time throwing grass and hay at Spencer. It was really fun to watch. Spencer let them think they were getting him good. They laughed and laughed.
Two beauties! Afton has grown so much in the short time we've been away!! She's just 9 or so months older than Miles and oh so pretty. Very photogenic too.
If you haven't seen older posts about them these are our good friends the James' that live in Palmdale. James and Spencer work together and yes, their names get mixed up a lot! I've missed Alyssa and we had the opportunity to spend the day together at the Scarecrow festival her sister puts together every year.... it was so fun. Miles misses Afton. It was so sad to say goodbye again. Pictures I didn't take are of Miles loving the animals they had... pigs, horses, exotic chickens (well, kinds they have in Ghana I haven't seen before), llamas and bunnies, etc. Very very fun!

Preschool

Here's Miles with his teacher Anna. We took him twice a week for 6 weeks to preschool. Lets face it, it was really day care with lots of fun activities so I could have a break and he could go play outside of the apartment. He'd still be enrolled now but I got scared when he came home sick his second day. After talking to our pediatrician we determined it was in the twins best interest to keep him away from so many germs. And with the swine flu so prevalant it's good for him to be out too. Instead we're having fun at the local children's museum, with the new train table, the library, etc. Some of the school highlights where petting a pony that he was supposed to take a trun riding but he was scared, touring a real Fire Engine and riding the "bike" I think it was a "trike", but he called it a bike!

I was taking pictures of Lincoln and Julia when Miles wanted to join. This meant putting him in Julia's crib. The three of them barely fit, but now Miles wants to do it all the time! I think the pictures turned out nice.

Christmas came early!

We found this amazing used train table with 30+ trains and lots of track on KSL.com (Utah's most popular way to sell junk!) The family that had it took great care and all the trains are like new. If we had bought it all new it would have been 4 or 5 times the cost so we were really pleased. Initially, we wanted to continue a reward system we have where he gets to pick a train every time he fills his good deed jar with marbles. However, it didn't turn out quite that way. He plays with it all now and we decided it was fun to just have an early Christmas for him. Since he really doesn't get the whole toys at Christmas thing. It's really fun to watch him play and figure out how to change the track and recreate his own Thomas stories. He loves the trains and knows all their names, most of them I had never heard of but somehow even though I watch all the Thomas movies with him, he's picked out a few I missed, like Jack the tractor and Daisy the coach... etc. He also makes the best train noise I have ever heard! It really sounds like a train! Lincoln has become very interested in watching Miles play with his trains and so quite often Miles and I discuss how the trains are for all three children and he will happily share with Lincoln and Julia when they get old enough to play too! Lets see how that turns out!

Big enough for high chairs

Rice Cereal time! Here are the little darlings after a yummy meal of rice cereal. They do really well in the high chair, although Miles is not too happy about sharing his old high chair with the twins. He thinks it's still his and he needs it!! The last time he used it was in Palmdale just before we moved. It's been 3 months and you'd think he's ready to move on!

Sweet Reunion

Josephine (James' sister), her husband Johnny and their adorable kids Emma, Edwin, and baby due in Jaunary came to visit during General Conference. We haven't seen them since Johnny's graduation from Howard in '07. Miles had fun with Emma and Edwin then and he certainally adored playing with them on this visit too. He was, however, often scolded for not being nice. On our last visit before they left Emma determined that if we just left Miles in her care for just one night he'd be a changed boy. Jo thought it was funny that Emma was so good at telling Miles the right way to act when she herself wasn't always so perfect. I was impressed at what a good big sister she is and Edwin is also an angel. We wish we lived closer. (They live in Atlanta!) It's been a month since thier visit and Miles still talks about his cousins Emma and "Eggwin" (he pronounces Edwin's name so cute, just like he pronounces Edward the Thomas the Train character "Eggward). Oh and he loves the shirt Edwin was wearing with the picture of Fries and Ketchup!
Johnny and Josephine are so dear. We really miss being with them.
