Shoes

Miles has discovered shoes are fun to play with. He is now trying to walk in our shoes as demonstrated in this picture of him in one of dad's shoes. Miles just got a new pair of shoes that he loves and now wants to wear all the time. Good thing because he is always banging into things and cracking his big toenails!
He loves kicking balls, especially the real soccerball and basketball but those had to be hidden because of his sore toes.

Look who's driving!

This is usually what I see when James drops me off somewhere while he and Miles wait in the car. Miles in the driver's seat having fun. He is so observant. He acts just like we do when we drive, reaches over to adjust the controls and everything.

Belmont Beach

Miles and dad had so much fun chasing after the waves and digging in the sand. The activity on the beach was very entertaining. We saw all kinds of people having fun and I think next time we'll spend more time. This time we had to get home during Miles' afternoon nap to avoid any possibility of crying on the drive home. We miss living in Utah but having great places like this so close makes it bearable.

Mission Bay Beach

Miles' first time in the sand was exciting! He loved walking in the sand, throwing it (especially throwing it into his mouth) and eating it. I gave him a seashell that was packed with sand, the first thing he did was put it in his mouth. We walked along Misson Bay, admired the beauty of the beach, the houses, and all the activity. Then we headed to Belmont Beach.

Like a king on his throne

Miles loves elbows. I don't know what it is, but usually when one of us is holding him, he finds our elbow and just strokes it. Here he is on James' shoulders, he's found his dad's elbows and now it looks like he's on a throne overlooking his kingdom.

Feeding Flamingos

Before James could stop him, Miles popped a bird food pellet in his mouth! It looked like dog food. He didn't spit it back out so I guess it tasted ok! We had fun feeding the flamingos and the ducks.

We saw Polar Bears, Balooga (how do you spell it? it's the big white one) Whales, a Wahlrus, touched a cool wall that looked like icy snow, just like we were in a real snow cave.

Atlantis

This ride is too scary Miles! You can't ride it yet.

We would have sat for ages watching the Journey to Atlantis ride if Miles had the choice. He loved to watch the boats come down and see the water splash. Fortunately mom had other plans there was lots more to see.

Meeting a Clydesdale

Miles seemed to enjoy the

Clydesdales.

SeaWorld

Last Friday we made the 3 hour trip to San Diego. We enjoyed Saturday morning at SeaWorld. Here we are enjoying the Penguin Encounter. Pengiuns are so entertaining!

Airport

Miles had fun at the Salt Lake Airport while we waited for our flight. He found the luggage scale and enjoyed playing on it. Then we got closer to our gate we discovered the play area and since our flight was delayed, we camped out there for an hour or so. He had so much fun playing with the toys it was hard to get him to leave. The people passing by commented on how cute he was in his pj's running down the concourse with a toy vacuum (you know the kind with the little balls inside that makes the popping sound) or chasing after a ball. He wore himself out which was nice because he slept the whole flight, shuttle ride to the car park, the 1 hour drive from LAX home (only 1 hour? what can I say -- it was night, there was no traffic and James was driving) as well as most of the night. Horray!

Cats

Not only is Miles in love with our neighbors dog, he loved Lori's cats. We had dinner with my family at my sister Lori's house and her 2 cats entertained Miles, they even seemed to like him too.

Reflection

One day in the hotel

(during our Utah visit) I found Miles talking to himself. He was on the floor next to a wall length mirror enjoying his reflection. He was laughing and chatting with himself. I wondered if he knew it was himself or thought it was another kid? Hmm.

Trip to Utah

In early March Miles and I joined James' business trip to Utah. It was only 4 days but we still had time to visit a family and a few friends. Unfortunately Miles and James were sick, so we couldn't see everyone we wanted...next time?
Here is Miles and me with Aunt Trilba, Aunt Buelah and my mom Deanna after our delicious lunch at Village Inn. It was so much fun spending time with them. Miles entertained us as well as everyone in the restraunt. He had to run around and visit all the other patrons and anyone that paid attention to him got multiple visits...they didn't seem to mind the repeated interruptions to their otherwise quiet meal. At least that is my hope!

The dog next door

The neighbor's dog barks all the time but Miles

loves him! Every time we go out the door, Miles has to stop to see the dog. I never wanted to have a dog, but seeing how cute Miles is with this one makes me think I might one day change my mind. Will James?

Miles' Ghana outfit

Josephine (James' sister living in Ghana) had this gorgeous outfit made for Miles. We think he looks so cute running around in it! Thanks Jo!
